I needed a scale when I recently had to start home cooking a specially prescribed diet for my dog. The ingredients had to be measured in grams and fractions of a gram. After spending much time researching scales, this one had all the features I was looking for.

The scale is small in size but big enough for me to put a small plastic bowl on the tray for weighing the bulkier ingredients like the chicken or rice. It is accurate, literally right down to a grain of rice or a drop of oil. Because of its compact size it fits right in the cupboard and takes no room at all. It also measures in ounces at the push of a button should I want to do that with something else. I wear glasses for close-up reading; however, the digital numbers on the scale are large enough for me to read minus my glasses with no difficulty. The price is very reasonable and the shipping was fast. One of the soft plastic crescent shaped grippers did come off after I used the scale a couple of times, but I was able to stick it back on.

If small and portable is your only concern, then take a flashlight with you so you can read the LED in restaurant lighting. I fault myself for purchasing something way too small for my purpose. I'm weighing small food portions, not gold dust.
