Product works well but is dangerous. Is very difficult to open and close. Blade is where lock is.

I received my Zyliss a few days ago and it's fantastic. I read a lot of reviews about different mandolins, as this my first one, and was hoping that the negative things that have been said by a few people about this one are not true. This mandolin slices perfectly and i also like the french fry size. It is soooo easy to use, it is sharp and safe, and it is small and easiy stored. This is a winner. Before I thought that this was not a necessary appliance (hey, I love using my knives)but after I sliced lemons yesterday - my goodness, so perfectly, I realized that I will love this tool and use it all of the time. I recommend that you watch the video - it only takes two minutes.

This is extremely well built. Just turn the knob for blade thickness selection - not changing blades. It folds up small for storage, dishwasher safe - though it just rinses off quickly and hasn't stained. Fits perefect over a bowl (or countertop) and does not slip. I don't believe you could get a better designed, better built product at ten times the price. (Glad I decided trying this first before the expensive stainless steel one).
